ADC honored with "courage and commitment" award

June 16, 2014 — The Anti-Discrimination Center was one of three organizations honored with the “Abraham Krasnoff Courage & Commitment Award” by ERASE Racism at the Long Island organization’s annual gala on June 4th. The other honorees were the NAACP Legal Defense and Educational Fund and the Lawyers’ Committee for Civil Rights Under Law. Elaine Gross, ERASE Racism’s president, made the award presentation to ADC. Craig Gurian, ADC’s executive director, accepted the award on behalf of ADC.

In accepting the award, Gurian remarked that civil rights organizations need to be self-reflective and that one way that “the good guys have fallen short” is reflected in the “radically different way that the term community is used today as opposed to decade’s ago.” Full video of ERASE Racism’s presentation to ADC is below.
